"Have a popsicle...." Pics from our Grant Park outing to see American Graffiti

I'll let you all in on the joke....the sign was a marker to show friends where our group was located in the park. There were a few thousand people there and we needed a banner or marker of some sort. This was left over from a music video that my buddy Dan was in this last year.

A pictoral tour of Chicago's beaches

Recently I have had a few conversations with some non-Chicagoans who have expressed surprise, confusion and even, possibly, disbelief that Chicago actually has beaches. So here is some proof that yes, we are on a lake, a very big one in fact, you may have heard of it, it is called Lake Michigan, and it has beaches, many of which are located right in downtown Chicago!

This is the little beach we have at Northwestern, where I work. This beach is a two minute walk from my building. Its little, but its a beach.....

One of the beaches in Evanston- the suburb I live in. The closest one is actually a boating beach- beyond it is the people beach.

North Avenue beach is one of the largest and most popular beaches in Chicago.

North Avenue beach is volleyball central in Chicago.....

I love the view of the city from North Avenue beach!

Standing on the beach and looking out to the lake you can almost forget you're in the third largest city in the USA........

Far away you can see Oak street beach, just a few blocks from the John Hancock building.
